Gas compliance certificates

We travel to you to and can organize mobile mechanics for the roadworthy also!

If you need a gas certificate for your RV in the Sunshine Coast area South of the Maroochy River, we are happy to help. We install, service and repair gas appliances and components on RV's every day. While there are lots of plumbers out there with gas licences and also some mechanics with a caravan gas inspection ticket, you should consider what would happen if there was a previously unknown issue that needed to be rectified. Is your gas certifier up to date with the 2004, 2010, 2013 and 2020 gas standards for recreational vehicles? Do they carry the appropriate 5/16" and 3/8" fittings that RV's use? Are they even allowed to do any gas repair work? (Mr mechanic). Do they carry caravan appliance and gas spares and does he or she have the knowledge to rectify any issues that may arise?

Below: Leaking gas valve, inadequate ventilation, non compliant yellow piping

Most people are usually confident that there are no issues with their vehicle but sometimes life happens. Older gas valves get worn and don't shut off properly. Regulators and pigtail hoses that have been out in the sun for years suffer from heat stress and leak. Most caravans and campers from reputable dealers are generally installed reasonably compliantly. The issues that are not so easy to remedy are the DIY built buses and vans. If someone installs a gas system and they are not aware of the rules then the problem is handed down to the next owner who doesn't realise there's an issue till its time to sell. We sometimes come across vehicles that are piped in yellow composite house pipe. Or worse, rubber hose with worm drive clips. We will advise you of any issues and if it's serious we will give you a quote for rectification. What we won't do is defect you and say 'not my problem. I'm not qualified or able to fix your issue'.

We love to work on compliant modern caravans but we're just as happy to take on older caravans. Even one's from the Seventies and Eighties. You should be aware though that the Queensland Government has legislated to make 2004 the de-facto minimum standard that all gas systems in RV's must achieve. That means fridges must be in sealed compartments, no kitchen benchtops on top of cooktops unless there is a lid cut off device, High and low ventilation must be permanent. We deal with these issues as they come and are happy to speak to you prior to coming out if you think you may have a compliance issue.

A Queensland gas certificate is valid for 3 months from date of issue. It's highly recommended to book us in before you sell your RV. Finding out you have a problem the day before your buyer comes with the cash is not a good look. We can travel as far as is needed but the further we travel, the more we have to charge to recoup costs. Some customers are not able to make their campers available to us for inspection during the week. Subject to availability, we are able to have customers drop by our home on Saturday morning for a gas compliance inspection. We are located in Mooloolah Valley just 8 minutes West of the Caloundra interchange down Steve Irwin Way.

We inspect caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, buses, vans, canopies, jack-off campers and more. And even sometimes boats.
